The entire history of knife-making at W.R. Case & Sons can be traced through their tang stamps,
each of which was used during specific periods of time. Today's collectors look forward to
the close of each decade, signaling the end of an era for one tang stamp concept and the
beginning of one that's brand new.
For 2009, Case is offering a knife set that spans the seven major Case tang stamp
eras:
the "Case Bradford Era" (1905-1920)
the "Case Tested Era" (1920-1940),
the
" Case XX Era" (1940-1964),
the " Case XX USA Era" (1965-1969),
the " Case Dot Era"
(1970-1999),
the "Dots and X's Era" (2000-2009),
and the new tang stamp for 2010
through 2019.
Five unique knives in each series are stamped in the traditional fashion,
but with an extra " X" to distinguish these from those actually made during earlier eras.
Owning this set is like owning a piece of Case history-and a little piece of Americana
too. Production is limited to just 200 complete sets.
